With an estimated cost of 20 thousand euros, the project includes the installation of an intelligent system for recording and analyzing training sessions and competitions. The goal is to improve learning, technical support, and motivation for young athletes. It also comprises a mentoring program with former athletes from the council who represented Portugal in the Young National Teams and are currently pursuing their university studies and sports careers.
The project is intended for the youth of the council, particularly for athletes from BECA, students of School Sports, and young people involved in sports and associative activities. It was the winner of the 3rd edition of the OPJ, which featured 5 proposals for voting: BECA 360 – Youth Center for Sports Development; Group in the Area of Culture – Gandarela Village Area; Mix of Education and Culture; Celorico Roots and Flavors; Group in the Area of Culture.
In this edition, voting was more inclusive, with young people aged 15 to 35 able to vote online and in person. The winning project will now be implemented, serving as another example of active youth participation in the community and their involvement in public decisions.
The Youth Councilor of the Municipality, José Sousa, highlighted the importance of the OPJ in consolidating youth policies, "ensuring involvement, participation, and responsibility in the presented projects, enabling them to promote the changes they wish to see implemented, with sustainable, inclusive projects truly committed to the development of the council." The councilor emphasized the importance of seeing "young people truly involved in municipal management, with critical thinking and responsibility".
José Sousa expressed enthusiasm for the "adherence of young people, both in the presentation of proposals and in the voting process," considering the OPJ a key tool for promoting active and responsible citizenship.
