During the four working days, participants addressed strategies for enhancing the heritage and cultural resources of the involved territories, seeking to identify ways to promote their preservation and dissemination. The meeting also included the presentation of territorial intervention plans from different partners, allowing for the sharing of proposals for each territory and experiences within the project's framework.
RESPIRA (Sustainable and Professional Rehabilitation of Interconnected Rural Heritages) aims to enhance the heritage and identity of rural territories in southwestern Europe, contributing to sustainable development and addressing challenges such as depopulation and loss of economic dynamism. In the municipality of Barcelos, the project focuses on the Neiva Valley, where diagnostic and valorization actions are being carried out with the involvement of local agents.
The project, initiated in June 2025 and scheduled to conclude in May 2028, involves nine entities from Portugal, Spain, and France. It is co-financed by the Interreg Sudoe Programme with approximately 1.3 million euros, representing a total eligible investment of about 1.7 million euros.
