The recognition highlights the work developed by the municipality in promoting environmental education and sustainability within the educational community. The Mira a Terra Program, integrated into the municipal educational offerings, provides children and young people, from preschool to secondary and vocational education, with learning experiences in direct contact with the territory.
Through visits, practical activities, and awareness campaigns, students explore the natural heritage of the county, nature conservation, and the relationship between science and economic and social activities. These experiences aim to stimulate scientific curiosity, value local resources, and encourage responsible attitudes in protecting biodiversity and the environment.
As part of the National Education Awards, the Municipality of Odemira also submitted candidacies for the Odemira Previne, SEMEAR, and Fórum do Território nas Escolas Programs, reflecting the diversity of municipal initiatives in promoting educational success and pedagogical innovation.
