The Cardiovascular Intervention Unit at Beja Hospital is now operational, equipped with state-of-the-art technology to provide a more timely response to various cardiac pathologies.

The Cardiovascular Intervention Unit, coordinated by cardiologist Dr. Luís Duarte, features a modern, top-of-the-line angiograph with a new generation image-guided therapy platform. This new equipment provides the ideal conditions for developing interventional cardiology activities.
With attractive facilities and equipment, the unit will enable a quicker response in the implantation of pacemakers and defibrillators. It also expands interventions in the treatment of atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, and paroxysmal tachycardias, among other tachyarrhythmias.
This new technological capability allows for interventions that were not previously possible at Beja Hospital, which is expected to reduce the number of patients needing to be transferred to other healthcare facilities.
The establishment of this unit is considered of "tremendous importance" to the institution, and it is hoped that it will help attract more specialists to the region in the near future, as well as in the medium and long term.
