The program, which took place in a parish of the municipality, offered free entry and combined puppets, music, thought, and new languages, with a reinforced international presence. Decentralization was an artistic choice that proposed a different way for the public to experience culture, discovering shows and creators while exploring new places.
This year, the festival promoted for the first time a conversation about “The Art of the Invisible,” bringing together leading national figures to discuss creation processes and less visible dimensions of the arts. The international dimension was deepened with more foreign companies and new collaborations, strengthening dialogue between different practices and cultures.
The world of puppets intersected with other artistic expressions, such as fado, in a dialogue that bridged seemingly distant universes. Over nine editions, Fora dos Eixos has built a special relationship with the territory, maintaining free entry as a fundamental characteristic for economic access to the program.
The next edition, from March 18 to 21, 2027, will celebrate the festival's tenth anniversary, coinciding with the International Puppet Day. The date change aims to mark this anniversary and open a new chapter in the relationship between the art form, audiences, and the territories where the festival takes place.
