The Municipal Assembly of Mealhada has announced the opening of nominations for the 19th Sports Gala of the Municipality of Mealhada. The deadline for submitting proposals is December 15.
The initiative aims to recognize and distinguish individuals, associations, and entities that have played a significant role in the development of sports in the municipality of Mealhada during the past year. The gala will feature 12 award categories, including Sports Association of the Year, Team of the Year, Director of the Year, Coach of the Year, Athlete of the Year, Revelation of the Year, Sports Merit, Career Award, High Prestige, Incentive Award, and Dedication Award.
A new addition this year is the Fair Play Award. This accolade will be presented to an athlete, team, coach, director, association, or other sports agent who, throughout 2026, has distinguished themselves through exemplary behavior of respect, loyalty, sportsmanship, and fair play spirit.
The new award values attitudes that enhance sports and the municipality of Mealhada, such as respect for opponents, referees, colleagues, coaches, directors, and the public, as well as gestures of solidarity and mutual help. The award will be based on concrete facts and behaviors, regardless of sporting results.
