The decision was made during the Municipal Executive meeting this Tuesday. The intervention, covering a total of 62.35 kilometers, will restore crucial access for surveillance, detection, and inspection, as well as for the circulation of response teams in case of fire.
The project, titled “Forest Road Network Improvement - 2026 in the Municipality of Mealhada - Kristin", will be submitted for funding from the Municipal Emergency Fund. The intervention area was determined through consultations with local Junta presidents, fire departments, and the Municipal Civil Protection Service.
The restoration of these roads is vital in a region with a significant forest presence, improving access and circulation conditions following damage caused by exceptional weather phenomena.
In the same meeting, the Executive also approved the tender for the replacement of the synthetic turf at the Municipal Football Field Germano Godinho, in Pampilhosa, with a base price of €220,000, plus VAT. The work includes removing the current turf, correcting the base, and installing a new certified synthetic grass system.
In the area of Education, €17,100 was approved for 20 scholarships for secondary and higher education students residing in the municipality. Ten scholarships of €1,000 will be awarded for secondary education and ten scholarships of €710 for higher education, aimed at families facing economic hardship.
Applications for these scholarships will be open from October 19 to November 20. The Executive also noted the financial reprogramming of three urban requalification interventions: the Central Zone of Antes – Extension of Rua da Portaria, the Central Zone of Barcouço, and Pampilhosa Baixa – Phase 1.
