The Social Intervention Plan (PIS), themed “Empower today, transform tomorrow,” begins on October 30th with the first of 14 information and training sessions for municipal social housing beneficiaries in Estarreja. The initiative, presented to residents earlier this month with the presence of the Mayor, Isabel Simões Pinto, aims to strengthen personal, family, social, and professional skills.
A collaboration between the Social Housing Management Sector of the Estarreja Municipal Council and PISTA - Social Intervention Project of Terras do Antuã, the plan seeks to improve residents' living conditions and well-being. "We want to be close to families and provide useful tools for their daily lives. This plan is an investment in people and their autonomy," stated the Mayor.
Over the course of a year, fourteen sessions will be held across seven areas: health and well-being; healthy and sustainable eating; financial literacy; personal comfort and home organization; job skills training; parenting; and mental health and community participation. Each session will last approximately two hours and take place in small groups, with guest speakers, tailored to residents' interests and needs.
The goal is to support daily life and family budget management, encourage healthy habits, expand professional integration opportunities, and strengthen neighborhood relationships. The plan also aims to reduce social isolation, prevent neighborhood conflicts, and improve relations with municipal services, fostering greater housing and social stability.
