Multidisciplinary artist Catarina Carvalho Gomes debuts as a singer-songwriter at the Cineteatro Alba in Albergaria-a-Velha, as part of the OuTonalidades circuit, presenting the "Novas Canções da Terra" project on the evening of November 5th.

The concert, with free admission, will take place at 10:00 PM and focuses on exploring the potential of the voice, drawing inspiration from the traditional Portuguese songbook and its relationship with language. Catarina Carvalho Gomes addresses themes such as grief, fascination, solitude, generational conflict, and heritage, linking human emotional cycles with the natural cycles of flora, prioritizing the voice as the main instrument, with sounds spanning folk, indie, jazz, and fado.
On stage, the artist will be accompanied by João Grilo (piano and arrangements) and Gonçalo Cravinho (double bass). The self-authored album "Novas Canções da Terra" has already won the award for best concert at the Festival Emergente in 2024.
Born in Braga in 1997, Catarina Carvalho Gomes trained as an actress and holds a degree in Linguistics from the University of Porto. She has theatre experience, having created the monologue show "Diacrítico" and directed "Não Sou Como a Figueira". She also directed one of the opening shows for Braga’25 - Portuguese Capital of Culture.
As a singer, she was part of the Ensemble Caleidoscópio and João Grilo's Frestão project, having recorded vocals for various artists. Her work explores the relationship between music and theatrical and poetic text.
