The Municipal Council approved, in a Council Meeting, the allocation of an extraordinary support of 1000 euros to the Volunteer Firefighters Humanitarian Association of Albergaria-a-Velha. This support is related to the Solidarity Cycle Ride, held as part of the European Mobility Week 2026.
The initiative Solidarity Cycle Ride – 500 km for the Volunteer Firefighters of Albergaria-a-Velha was one of the most participated activities of the week. Initially, the resolution from September 3rd stipulated a support of 2 euros per kilometer cycled, with a maximum cap of 1000 euros. However, participation was massive, exceeding the 500 km goal on the first day.
The community demonstrated a strong spirit of solidarity, continuing to cycle at the Municipal Market – A Praça even after the goal was reached. Individuals, groups, and associations actively contributed, totaling 3509.76 km by the end of European Mobility Week.
For the Municipal Council, this extraordinary support recognizes the extraordinary community participation in the cause of the Volunteer Firefighters, highlighting the great demonstration of solidarity.
