The Municipality of Albergaria-a-Velha received six awards in the areas of Sports, Education, Social Action, and Health during the IV Social City Congress, held in Portimão and Lagoa.

The Municipality of Albergaria-a-Velha was awarded six distinctions in the areas of Sports, Education, Social Action, and Health at the IV Social City Congress, which took place on October 1 and 2, at the Lagoa Congress Centre and the Portimão Municipal Theatre. At this event, Cidade Social presented the 2026 Municipal Excellence Awards and Quality Recognitions.
In the Sports sector, the Municipality received the 2026 Municipal Excellence Award – Gold for the Adapted Sports Program, which supports individuals with disabilities, currently involving 77 participants in partnership with APPACDM of Albergaria-a-Velha. Additionally, it received the Quality Recognition for the Senior Physical Activity Program (Programa Idade Maior) and the Quality Recognition for Holiday Camp for the Municipal Holiday Camp, noted for its free transport, support for vulnerable families, and diverse activities.
The project Aprender@Ser – Integrated Municipal Architecture for School Success and Inclusion, part of Educ@RA2030, earned the 2026 Municipal Excellence Award in Education. This multidisciplinary project involves professionals from Social Services, Psychology, and Speech Therapy, in coordination with the School Group of Albergaria-a-Velha and the School Group of Branca.
The Community Program for Grief Support (PCAL) was honored with the 2026 Municipal Excellence Award in Social Action, aiming to strengthen local responses for individuals and families experiencing loss, promoting a community-based approach and professional training.
Finally, the project CURARTE – Art and Health in Public Space received the 2026 Municipal Excellence Award in the Health sector. Developed at the Branca Health Unit, in partnership with the Quinta das Relvas Association and in coordination with the UCSP Branca, CURARTE transforms waiting rooms into spaces for encounter and artistic enjoyment.
