Data from September 2026 indicates a decrease in the recycling rate, which stood at 25.16%, compared to 26.47% recorded in the same period of 2025. This decline is attributed not only to a lower volume of waste sent for recycling but also to an increase in overall urban waste production, rising from 135,460 kg to 141,280 kg. Recyclable waste collected decreased from 48,760 kg to 47,500 kg.
The only material to show an increase in collection was glass, with a rise from 15,640 kg to 17,900 kg. In contrast, paper/cardboard and mixed packaging registered decreases.
The Municipality reminds residents that proper waste separation helps preserve natural resources, reduces landfill waste, and lowers treatment costs for the local authority. A higher selective collection rate leads to lower waste management expenses.
Recycling is a simple action that benefits the environment, the local economy, and everyone's future.
