The President of the Ponta Delgada Municipal Council, Pedro Nascimento Cabral, announced the opening of a tender procedure for the hiring of seven sociocultural animators. This measure aims to increase the number of places in the Municipal Leisure Activities Network (ATL), allowing more children and families to benefit from this educational and social service.
The mayor highlighted that this initiative continues the strategy of investment in the municipal network, which, between 2022 and 2025, has already created approximately 200 new places. The goal is to strengthen the capacity to respond to the needs of families in Ponta Delgada.
“We want to continue expanding our Municipal ATL Network, providing more children with safe spaces for learning, socializing, and development. Hiring new professionals is fundamental to achieving this goal and ensuring that the network's growth is accompanied by the quality of service we provide to families,” stated Pedro Nascimento Cabral.
The tender procedure is for the occupation of seven job positions in the career and category of Technical Assistant, in the area of Sociocultural Animation, reinforcing the human resources dedicated to child supervision.
Pedro Nascimento Cabral emphasized the essential role of the Municipal ATL Network in balancing professional and family life, offering educational, recreational, and socialization activities in environments suitable for child development. "We know the importance this service has in the daily lives of so many families, especially for parents who need to reconcile their work schedules with childcare. That is why we continue to invest in expanding the network and improving the conditions we offer," he noted.
In parallel, the Municipal Council has implemented the pilot project “Ocupa-te”, a complementary response for students in the 5th and 6th grades. This project offers occupational activities during after-school hours, promoting healthy use of free time and the development of personal and social skills. Initially implemented at the Canto da Maia School, it is part of the municipal strategy to diversify support for families and the school community.
For Pedro Nascimento Cabral, the reinforcement of the Municipal ATL Network and the creation of complementary responses reflect a proximity policy that prioritizes children and families. "Investing in our children is investing in the future of Ponta Delgada. We want to continue promoting equal opportunities, supporting families, and creating conditions for the youngest to grow and develop their abilities safely," he concluded.
